MOE Attendance Guidelines
Attendance Plan
At Ilam School, we know that regular attendance is the cornerstone of student success. Beyond meeting legal requirements under the Education and Training Act 2020, consistent participation helps our ākonga build foundational knowledge, lasting social connections, and a true sense of belonging within our kura. We work in partnership with our families to ensure every student is present, on time, and ready to reach their full potential.
Attendance Procedures - Information for whānau
Te Kura o Waiutuutu Ilam School monitors student attendance in Weeks 5 and 10 of each term to ensure children stay on track. Attendance is considered regular if a student misses fewer than 5 days per term, while missing 15 or more days is classified as chronic. If absences become a concern, your child's teacher will reach out to check in and may eventually arrange a meeting with a Team Leader to create a support plan. For ongoing attendance issues that do not improve, the school may involve the Attendance Service or, as a last resort, Oranga Tamariki to ensure student wellbeing.
