All children (and staff!) at Ilam School are members of a school ‘House’. Just like at Hogwarts, all children from the same family are in the same House. 

The Houses provide a chance for some healthy competition within the school. Each term, there are events for for students and staff to take part in and earn points for their House. Children and adults alike enjoy dressing up in their House colours and cheering on their House-mates.

There are five Houses, all named after South Island rivers:
Hurunui (blue)
Conway (green)
Rakaia (orange)
Waimakariri (yellow)
Waitaki (red)

The House Cup, presented at the final assembly of the year, is keenly contested. The winning House in 2022 was Waitaki. Who will it be this year?
