Ilam Primary School is a unique educational facility. It provides exciting opportunites for Years 1 to 6 students. The school roll is approximately 500. Next door to Canterbury University we enjoy extra curricular activities not always possible in a primary school setting.

We embrace biculturalism. Many students from overseas are also enrolled at Ilam, so the richness and diversity presented by the many cultures is enjoyed by all students. (See cultural day right)

A special emphasis is placed on catering for the individual needs of all students.



The Music/Performing Arts room is well utilised by staff and children. Students have the opportunity from an early age to participate in a wide variety of music options. Ilam School has a large orchestra and Junior, Middle and Senior choirs. Many opportunities are given for students to develop and share their music, dance and drama skills.	The recently completed large and modern hall, offers extra opportunities to celebrate together the ongoing achievements of our students. It also provides an excellent facility for Physical Education, Sports and Arts performances.	Our purpose built Science and Technology room demonstrates Ilam's initiative in this area. A key focus of the school is to ensure students are exposed to a wide range of experiences and opportunities associated with the Science and Technology curriculums.

Ilam School offers extensive playing and sporting fields in well established grounds, including a fitness course along its northern boundary.	Our information area is composed of a modern well equipped library and an information computer technology suite. All classrooms have their own class computers, extra laptops, cameras and data projectors.	Safe playground areas are a feature throughout the school.
