In Zone Enrolments
All children whose usual place of residence is within the defined zone will be eligible to enrol at Ilam School at any time.
Parents wishing to enrol children at the school may be asked for evidence that they are residing in the enrolment zone. Such evidence could be a copy of a purchase agreement of a house in the enrolment zone OR a copy of a rates demand listing the applying parent OR a tenancy agreement OR a power account.
Out of Zone Enrolments
Each term, the Board will review the roll and decide whether there are any vacancies in the following term for students living outside of the zone and will decide whether it has general vacancies or just vacancies in specified year levels only. The Board is required to publish this information by notice in a daily or community newspaper circulating in the area served by the school. The notice will indicate how applications are to be made and will specify a date by which all applications must be received. It will also mention the date of the ballot if this should take place. Please contact the school office if you wish to know these dates for the current year.
Applications for enrolment will be processed in the following order of priority:
First Priority: This priority category is not applicable at this school because the school does not run a special programme approved by the Secretary of Education.
Second Priority: Will be given to applicants who are siblings of current students.
Third Priority: Will be given to applicants who are siblings of former students.
Fourth Priority: Will be given to applicants who are children of Board employees.
Fifth Priority: Will be given to all other applicants.
If there are more applicants in the second, third, fourth or fifth priority groups than there are places available, selection within the priority group will be by a ballot conducted in accordance with instruction issued by the Secretary of Education under Section 11G(1) of the Education Act 1989.
